They are all good technologies.

It all depends in your budget, room size, lighting, tastes, requirements, etc

Ratman's right...If someone went to you and asked what kind of car should you get....know what I mean..

see how much you wanna spend, keep in mind in updating your audio components..

how are you going to get the HD signal, cabel or Sat or OTA?

so many things to consider....

You two are right. I really was wondering what everyone's dream set up would be. I mean if you were going to build a dream set up for a regular size living room. Would it be a plasma over lcd if money wasn't an issue, or would you still choose lcd because of the size you can get? If you could get your dream tv, would you get cable or sat? The only thing is programming. Some of us like to watch the whole NFL season while some want to watch reruns all day. So let's say we were well rounded and liked all sports, all CSI and major network primetime shows, and discovery channel stuff. What is your dream set up?

The dream set up for me would be a projector and a 100+ inch screen of course :D

You would pick projection over plasma huh? Interesting. I see you are going to replace your sub next. You should go with a mtx sub12" passive radiator

The dream set is one that has all of the quality(s) of a direct view CRT, screen sizes to accomodate anyones needs/desires, dimensions/footprints/weight that's acceptable/tolerable, modular interfaces for any wiring/input/output/STB configuration, software/firmware upgradable, etc

Well unless your gonna find me a 100" plasma, yes :) Granted this is my dream system because my wife would shoot me if I tried to put a projector in the living room, gotta wait until I move and build myself a dedicated home theater room first...

$50 - $100 K for the projector/screen, $250 - $400 K for the dedicated theater room with obligatory bar/pool/sports rooms along the periphery, and of course another $4 - 6 million for the home and property it's attached to.

You said dream. :)

Me personally plasma would be my last choice even if I had an unlimited budget.

I work at Baylor University as a project manager......"work" not a BU fan but hey, its a job and I'll let them pay my UT tuition bills. Anyways, a project we just finished over X-mas break was a room for a stock trading class, it has a stock market ticker going around the entire room, 2 60" Plasmas(forget the brand), but heres were it really gets interesting......It has (what is supposed to be) the largest Plasma in the state of Texas. It measures 12' across and 5' high....No BS!! Today they dedicated it and are already conducting classes in it. If you live anywhere near Central Texas it will be on the news tonight and you can see it for yourself. My boss is currently trying to negotiate a deal with the dean, for us to have a Superbowl party in there. Doubt I would attend seeing that it is a Baptist school and they might frown on me bringing in a cooler of Dos XX. Long story short; That would be the T.V. for my living room!

You'd put the Plasma or Flat Screen LCD up behind the bar. Maybe a couple others scattered around the room. (with an unlimited budget, you'd want to replace them every quarter with a fresh model)

Definitely not the primary video source though.

I don't know why every one is so down on plasma. That's what I've got and I love it.

I respect your opinion. You seem to know your stuff. Can you elaborate why?

I don't even wanna know the price tag on that beast, or how much I'm gonna need to reinforce the floor in my basement to support the weight of it hehe
