Any fixed pixel display resolution is "p" not "i". Expensive (large) Plasmas have two native resolutions. 768 x 1365 or 1024 x 1024. You'd need to decide for yourself which is better.

However, as kevinw pointed out, the best input available is still 1080i (or 720P).

Plasma is 'cool'. Not the best for attaining the best possible resolution(s).... today IMO.

thanks for all your help. My plasma has a native resolution of 1024x1024 and I didn't know if that was the best or not.

1080i is the best yes, but it can be improved with 1080p:)

Congrats on the plasma, you have the best resolution of a plasma.

if the plasma resolution is 1024 x 1024, does it mean all signals are converted to 1024p? i'm just curious.

Yep, just like any fixed pixel display. They have no choice but to convert any incoming signal to the native format.

Some TVs in the Aquos series, eg LC-45GD6U, have 1920 x 1080. See http://www.sharpusa.com/products/TypeLanding/0,1056,s67,00.html

What about 720p, does 1080i produce a better picture?

That can of worms was discussed in the following thread. Open that can at your own risk.

Do not discuss it here, that's hijacking.
