Motorola 6208 Loud

Does anyone else have a problem with the Motorola 6208 STB being loud? Does insight offer a different model?

Because it has a HDD, it does make some sound. Most people wouldn't classify it as "loud" unless you got a "bad" unit.

I know but it seems like the fan is pretty loud. Sounds like a loud fan on a computer. I guess its normal then.

I had a 6208 and it had a loud fan. Got a 6412 last month and the fan is quieter. However, it makes a lot of clickety hard drive noises while it's on.

I don't hear it so much anymore since I put the box inside a cabinet (Sam's Club entertainment center).

Try to get the 6412 (dual tuner) if it becomes available. I got it from Comcast. With the 6208 I had a lot of freezeups and sound drops. Comcast techs thought problem was signal strenth or old wiring and they replaced the cabling with RG6. Didn't fix it so had em out again to replace the box, but that didn't fix it. Was considering switching to another cable company when the 6412 became available. Haven't seen any of those problems with the 6412, and i've had it for around 3 weeks now.

I don't think my cable company (Insight Communication) offers any thing other than the 6208, but I will check. Not a terrible problem. Thanks.

Have the 6208 and I notice the HDD noise but not the fan. Call your cable company about the 6412 and get on the waiting list if they don't have it available yet. It is the dual tuner model. I have a cousin who has Comcast that recently got the 6412 because he called and requested it. Cable companies are not advertising they have this model.
