Hi,
I have Mits 55807.
Recently during some scenes where there is a drastic color change like the explosion or a car chase, I am seeing some spotty image patches where the set failed to "Paint" the proper colors. The spots stay for a millisecond and then disapper during the next vertical scan. This only happens on following settings...

1. At night only
2. Watching Dish network
3. Only during scenes where there is a drastic color change from one camera angle to the next.

ps. DVD and VCR inputs look very nice.

Anybody else has seen this?

DFW. welcome to the forum.

You may find similar "motion artifacts" with fast motion (panning, scene changes, etc. This is normal, since you are now dealing with a digital medium rather than an analogue one.

You may simply be noticing it more at night, or perhaps Dish needs to do more compression at night...

Also, if you have your set to automatically do 2:3 pulldown, if the original medium is a movie then these artifacts may manifest themselves on occasion, but the overall result of using 2:3 pulldown - a much smoother and better image - are well worth it.

57U,
Sorry for being little ignorant on the nomenclature... what's 2:3 pulldown? and now that you have mentioned it... How can I get more control over what may have been a factory default setting?

Thanks

Most TVs do 2:3 pulldown which is simply a correction between the frame rates of movies (24 fps) and TV (30 fps).

Check out our FAQ section (6th one down on the home page), especially the post "what I need to do to my new HDTV".
