I just got a 65411 two weeks ago and it has just crapped out. We were watching it and everything was fine then it happened. The screen went black; I still had sound but no picture. I turned the unit off and then back on with no luck. Then I waited about 1 hour and it came back on. To my surprise my once perfect picture with little to no initial adjustments now is green beginning at each side and going in about one foot and the center is red. You can still watch the unit just the picture is totally out a wack..

The local authorized Mitsubishi repair guy just came out and was less than impressed. He starts with let me check the guns the last TV like this that was screwed up had broken gun mounts, they should move around when I wiggle them. He then removed the front panel and wiggled the guns (it hurt me just watching him) he then said well they didn't wiggle but I'll order the part and see if that helps. If not we'll try something else. Is this what to expect from authorized Mits repair shops? I am scared... Anyone with any idea of what the problem could be with this set please drop me a line. I got the feeling this guy really didn't have any idea what my problem could be.

I really don't like the fact I just made a considerable purchase in a TV that only worked for two weeks. Now with my lack on confidence in the local repair guy I wonder if it will ever work or even work as well????

Help.........

I don't know where you bought you purchased your set, but I would call the salesman and insist on a NEW TV immediately. Do not accept repairs. No new tv should need major parts repaired in 2 weeks. Who knows what else is damaged, broken or defective. If you don't get satisfaction from the dealer contact Mitsubishi direct and pressure to arrange for a new tv. Don't back down now.

Just so you know, most electronic items break right away because they were defective to begin with. If they last past a few months, they usually last a long time. No consolation, but thought it might make others feel better about their own purchase...

I totally agree with you... I am just hoping that maybe someone else in the group has more of an idea of what the problem could be then my repair guy. The place I bought from doesn't want to take the return they say that is what the warranty is for... Probably the last time I will buy any electronics from them. I would really just like to get the unit replaced but I am not sure where to even start.

A call to the manufacturer would be in order. They really want happy customers. Cut and paste this thread in an email to them. Dealer selection is very important. I've been buying from the same guys for over 10 years and they take good care of me and my friends who buy there. A friend had a new Tosh 50HDX82 die (lost red gun) after 3 days. No questions asked, he got a new one and they delt with Toshiba.

Ditto on most failures happen right away.

Bottom line, Mitsubishi will want to take care of you. The Mits HDTV's I looked at were pretty nice.

Go to the thread 'flashing timer light' for a nightmare story of my 65909. It crapped out 6 weeks after purchase. The technician still cannot get the edges to line up correctly. Until the technician tells Mitsubishi headquarters the TV cannot be fixed, you are stuck with a 400 pound paper weight. The technician who visits my TV advises that I am ignorant and need to read the manual. I point to chapter and verse on several pages to demonstrate where the manual's instruction fails to produce the intended result. He has yet to notice my sheepskin (PhD) on the wall.

By the way, read your warrenty....The Mitsubishi Projection Television Limited Warranty states in Paragraph a. Parts. "We will repair or replace, at our option, any defective part."

That clause "at our option" pretty much takes away any recourse you may have.

I have called Mitsubishi customer service. They have no intention of making me happy by replacing the unit until there is proof, provided by their technician, it cannot be repaired .
