what cables should i be using if hooking up a dvd player and a ps2? thanx im new to all this and dont know the difference between a lot of this stuff like s video vs compent and what not.

What are you using for a display? What inputs are available on it.

Are you using an A/V receiver for switching audio/video?

What DVD player are you using? And what outputs does it have.

PS2 questions I'll leave for the gamers :)

A DVI connector looks more like something you would use on your computer.

Component connections would have Red, Blue and Green RCA connections.

A S-video uses a mini-din type connector.

Composite video has a Yellow RCA connector.

Analog audio connections have a Red and White RCAs.

Digital audio coax has an orange RCA connector.

Digital audio optical has a little square connector that is rounded on one side.
