Does anyone have an opinion on these two tv's. All i know is that the 525 had hdtv built in and the 327 doesn't. Both are going for around $2700. Which is the best one to get.

If you are going to pay the same amount, might as well get the 525. like you said, it has the HD tuner built in.

Additional features on 525 are
MediaCommand (5-format Memory Card Reader)
PC Input (60Hz) with Stereo Audio
FireWire (IEEE 1394) 3
HDMI
RS-232C
Digital Audio Bitstream Output (Dolby Digital)

I believe that the only thing that the 327 has is DVI input vs. HDMI input on the 525.

Hell.. Just go with the 525.. Hahaha !! :rofl2:

Thanks. But I've read in here that the 525 has had so many problems and I haven't seen anything about the 327. I'm new to all of this and just don't want to be disappointed.

Yeah... There are probably more peeps that post problems than peeps that have no problems.. .. wouldn't you agree?? that would be the nature of it..

As for me, I personally have the 62825, and i have no problems like the other members that have the exact same HDTV.

I just bought the 525 and love it. Only thing I that erks me is the PC connection. I have it connected to a Windows XP Media Center 2005 PC via its PC connection. The TV’s directions say the PC connection is good up to 1024*768; at that size you get black bars about a foot on all sides. At 800*600 you get black bars that are 3" on all sides. I have tried for hours trying to get the 1024 to work, but I keep getting "resolution not supported" when I get close to the bars being gone. I mainly watch TV with the Windows MCE, the picture rocks; I get motion sickness playing games. I have tried and used every connection. The Firewire port only controls my Sony camcorder with the TV remote, I still need to hook up the AV cables to see the video. I thought the firewire would do it all but doesn’t. TV comes with a bunch of IR blasters that I don’t use, I use a Harmony remote to control everything.

This weekend I returned a Sony kp51ws520 and got the Mitsu 52525. I'm very happy with the swap. The picture is so much better on the Mitsu.
Although the local channels still don't come in that well I can live with them until all channels go HD.
Thanks for all the help. Hey Syracuse - Keith!

FatRay,

the IEEE ports are only compatible with mpeg2. there is only one SD sony camcorder that does mpeg2 and it sucks. I think the HD camcorders (jvc and sony) are the only other ones that work for it. DVHS HDVCRs use the IEEE port for recording, and the PVR in the WDxx825 uses IEEE.

I haven't tried it yet, but you could probably dump your tape to harddrive and convert it to MPEG2, then play through computer IEEE port. This is the only way I can think of to keep the digital to digital connection. Otherwise you are stuck with Svideo.

Wife got a samsung camcorder and vaio laptop recently but we have not tried this yet.

Ray,

use powerstrip to force your graphics adapter to output 1200x666 resolution and you'll get 100% 720p resolution on your Mitsu from Media center. I do and it looks great, and media center even detects the resolution and offers some stretch modes for video playback :)

My HTPC uses a ATI Radeon card, its actually a AIW8500DV, though I do not use the AIW part (video in) -- I have a Hauppauge PVR250 for input, but my HTPC was originally built using the ATI card, so when I upgraded to the PVR I just left the AIW in as output only card.... but 1200x666 will work perfectly with minimal overscan. (oh, btw the resolution of the tv is 1280x720 but that will produce quite a bit of overscan)

I recently bought the WD-52327 and by me the 525 was about $700 more so I opted for the 327 which is actually a newer model. I am very happy with the results. I play PS2 with the component cables and DVD's are prefect as long as you have a progressive scan. I would say though if you can get the 525 for the same price go for it. I have heard of good things (more than bad) about the Mits. TV's. Thats why I got one. The only thing that 525 does have, that you might want to remove is the Protective cover. It will create a glare. The 327 does not have it. Good luck.

I own a WD-52825--had a few initial issues that were related to a shipping problem, and I'm waiting on the built-in TV-Guide Onscreen firmware update, but other than that, the screen is spectacular, and I have not had any severe problems that weren't addressed to my satisfaction.
From the gist of what I have read, alot of early DLP sets have suffered issues that alot of new technology has--especially since the Mitsubishi isn't just a DLP, it's a computer in it's own right. A lot, if not all of these issues seem to have been resolved with firmware updates (a few with hardware ones for the light engine), but if you get a current 52525 model (one that has been recently manufactured), I doubt you'll have the severe issues posted here.
My two cents, anyway, for what they are worth.
By the way, I decided to do a test with my cable company (Adelphia), and get their highest-end HD box along with the Cablecard (something the 52525 offers vs. the 52325). I heard that the Mitsubishi's hd tuner is far better at picture clarity than almost all the cable boxes out there, and I have to agree, it is a noticable difference. You'll have to read up on the limitations of using a Cablecard though, posted elsewhere here. Doesn't bother me though.
