Just ordered HDTV through Dish Network today, and I was curious if the 811 receiver comes with a DVI cable (I'm guessing no).
Also, I have a spair DVI cable which came with my 19" Sony SDM-HS94P/S LCD monitor. My question is, is there a difference between DVI cables that come with PC monitors as opposed to those for HDTV? Can this cable be used to connect the 811 to the DVI input on my HDTV? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The 811 only comes with Component cables.
I can not answer your 2nd question, but I do know there are different types of DVI cables. I'd bite the bullet and go get a new DVI cable. You need to go out and get an optical digical cable for 5.1 Dolby anyway.

Check the FAQ on cables and connectors... You need a DVI-D single link for the 811. A DVD-D dual link will also work if thats what you have.

My Dish 921 did not come with a DVI cable. Got one yesterday, and the difference is amazing. I needed a DVI cable to get 720i, don't know if that's just my TV, but it looks awesome now.

Thanks for the input. The DVI cable I have is DVI-D, and I believe it is single link (18 small slanted pins + 1 horizontal pin. Is the only difference between single and dual link DVI cables the number of pins?
Edit: Actually, I located the this comparison on the ramelectronics.net website:
"Dual link vs Single Link: Don't believe the "hype" some websites are using about dual link cables being superior to single link cables. A single link cable is 100% as good as a dual link cable for single link equipment which covers about 99.5% of current equipment, including HDTV's, Projectors, Plasma Screens, and High Definition Set top Boxes. A better quality cable is a better quality cable, and single and dual link has nothing to do with quality. On the other hand, if both devices being connected support Dual links, then a dual link cable is the proper cable for the application, and you will have the capability of much greater resolutions and refresh rates. A properly designed Dual link cable should have no negative effects when used with single link equipment."
