When I first got HD in my current place I was getting all sorts of distortion. Comcast came in and said the cable inside my walls was low grade cable. They ran a thicker high grade cable in, and it resolved the problem.

I am building a new place and want the builder to use HD capable coax in the walls. What type should I purchase? Any store suggestions?

a Belden 1695a plenum rated Serial Digital Cable. If interference is an issue then a quad sheild cable will help.

I would think that what you're looking for is RG-6. If you want really heavy duty, you can go to RG-11. See the FAQ on Cables/splitters.

Also, when you're doing your new place, run some conduit (PVC pipe, whatever) and some speaker cables and some "string for pulling any other cable", as well any other cables you may think you need to appropriate locations.
