Thanks for the help on the other question, everyone - here is another one:

Is there any way to change the (correct me if I'm using the wrong term here) pincushion settings?

The effect that I'm seeing is that horizontally, from the center out, the picture bows slightly inward so that straight lines on the outer parts of the screen are a little curved. I can also see this effect vertically but it's not nearly as pronounced since of course it's a widescreen. I've had CRT sets where I could change this setting manually but I can't find it in any of the menus. Anyone know how to fix this?

Not familiar with this issue, but it almost sounds like you have in JUST mode?
Just mode keeps the center intact but streches the sides to fill the screen. Just a thought. You should have it set to full.

Not quite... I see this effect even when I'm watching an HD broadcast so full is the only aspect that the TV will run in. The effect is noticable to a discerning eye in all aspects, though...

Sounds like a minor geometry adjustment.
Normally a 'service menu' adjustment called pincushion or parabola.

I've been researching the "service menu" but have yet to find any definitive guide that delineates how to get there well enough for me to do it. I've been through the panny.tv site and they talk about how to do it but it's definitely not for the beginner DIY person like myself. If anyone knows where I can find more reference material, that would be awesome - I don't want to mess with the TV without knowing fully what I'm doing so I won't have to end up getting a paid professional in to clean up my mess :-p

No need to 'mess around' if the set is under warranty.
Make a service call...

Agreed, if it's under warranty call a tech in. This area that you see is probably normal, but it is usually hidden by 'overscan'. The screen should likely just be stretched out farther - there's supposed to be a small amount of the picture that bleeds off the screen and it usually hides minor pincushion problems.

If you have a Vertical and Horizontal stretch feature in the user settings, you can do it yourself.
