I am unable to view DVDs using a progressive scan DVD player through component inputs (the player has no DVI or HDMI connectors).
Is this tv unable to take component input from progressive scan players? Am I required to use a player with DVI or HDMI out?
Thanks.
There is no reason you shouldn't be able to hook up a DVD player with component video cables. Are you sure that the DVD player is properly set up to send out via the CV outputs (YPbPr) - sometimes a menu setting required. Do you have the TV set to the proper input?
Do you get a picture using S-video for example?
Please provide make and model number of the DVD player.

So I fixed the problem. Silly me. I had to hook up the DVD player via composite video input, then had to change the settings to enable component out, widescreen, and progressive scan.
DVD quality is obviously not as good as high def since it's only 480p not 720p, but it's pretty acceptable. I do have to turn on the TV's "Digital noise reduction" feature to the "high" setting to reduce digital artifacts like motion blur and pixelization on DVDs, but if I do that the picture is very acceptable.
Overall, I love how the huge size and widescreen give me the theater-like experience...really digging this tv and am thankful for it.
