I just hooked up my TV for the first time today, everything seemed to go ok except I can't get a better picture quality. I bought a HD Digital Box which is set to 1080i but is not able to show the picture quality because my TV is stuck on 480i.
When I look in the guide it says to change the Colour Matrix to HD to pick up High-Definition signal. My problem is the Colour Matrix line is ghosted out and is saying SD.
My Question is how do I change this threw the TV so it corresponds with my Digital Cable Box.

How is the cable box connected to the TV?
(component, DVI, et al)
What inputs are being utilized on the TV?
What is the make/model number of the cable box?

1) The Cable Box is plugged into the Red, Blue, Green slots and lead to Component 2 on the back of the TV. The DVD Component cables are in Component 1 slot.
2.) Also another thing is my Audio Out on the TV to my Receiver in the TV Slot, but I'm not able to get any Digital TV sound threw my receiver at all, My DVD's work fine, but the TV still can't get any sound no matter what.
3.) I have a Motorola DCT 6200 Cable box.
I hope with this information you are able to help me out a bit.

Well... first things first.
What happens if you swap the component inputs on the TV (I.E. put the STB on componnet #1 and DVD in #2)?

I swapped the component inputs on the TV and the Colour Matrix is still ghosted out.

Have you tried setting the cable box to 720p?
Are you 100% positive the cable box is setup properly?

The cable box is set to 1080i. Should I change it to 720p
I'll check the cable box setting up again. Because I'm going threw a Monstor Power Bar I might have something not quite right

Yes... try, as I suggested.
Yes...

I've set the cable box to 720P and its still ghosted. I'll get on the phone with my cable service provider to make sure I have the wires set up properly.

And... you're sure you're using "component cables", right?
RCA connectors with red, green and blue color designation on the cables and connectors on the TV end and the STB end.

Ok, I'm not sure what I've done, I've switched the Cable Box to read 1080i and its now showing HD on my TV and the ghosted out section is not ghosted out anymore. Everything is working, I've got the sound coming threw my home theatre, I had to move the audio cables to Aux to make that happen. And to get the picture I just changed the TV settings from TV to Component 1 and BOOM its there, My DVD works as well, except the setting for that is 480P and I want to change it to higher. I've just played with all the setting in the DVD player but don't see where that is an option.
Its a Progressive Scan Toshiba DVD Player
Also, How do I get my NON HD Channels to come in threw a better picture. Like possibly 720P like I've read is possible.

Not to be overly critical but...
C'mon! Have you 'really' read any manuals?
And as usual... what model DVD player do you have?
Are you sure it's capable of 'upscaling' higher than 480p?
To improve non-hd... go to the FAQ's and read this thread:

I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions. YES I've read the manuals but with 5 components to put together and routing the cables now threw this monstor bar alog with just buying HD Cable Box its a little intimidating. I'll stop asking questions to this forum, I was under the impression that was what it was for. I'll go ask the store where I bought it from, I just thought this was more convenient.
Sorry for the bother
Its possible my DVD player is not capable of anything highter than 480P. I'll look into it myself

Stop being silly... and so sensitive.
I have tried to help and answer your questions to the best of my ability with little insight.
You got over one hurdle, right?
So now, answer the next question.
What is the model number of your DVD player?
And... the power bar that you bought has nothing to do with routing video and audio. It's only for electric (and possible a coax cable).

The model of my DVD play is a Toshiba SD-3750

The SD-3750 does not upscale to 720p/1080i.
480p only.

FYI your set should switch if set properly between SD and HD. If you tune to an HD channel that item should not be greyed out anymore.

Thanks Onan321, your right, it is switching properly over from SD to HD now.
Does anyone know if the Toshiba SDV-392 DVD/Video Machine is capable of upscaling to 720/1080i? I just bought one early last year to have in my bedroom and I can easily swap it with the DVD downstairs that won't upscale.
