I just went to Better cables.com just to see how much they are compared to the expensive monster cable brand.

What a joke, these cable cost 2-3 times as much as monster cable and you thought monster cable was pulling your chain. :nono2:

Just a composite cable is close to 200$ what a freaken joke. :rmoon2:

Monster cable sells a 2 meter component cable there video 3 series for about 70$ compared to better cables which is $200+.

And in all honesty the monster ones look well built better than the cheap looking better cables. They look like the cables that come out of the box with your dvd player.

They look like the cables that come out of the box with your dvd player.

That work just as good as $200 cables, but don't look as good doing it.

I bought all GE cables from Home Depot that look great, gold plated, and were much cheaper then Monster cables. They were rated exact same picture quality as Monster Cables by MMI.

BETTER CABLES? BETTER CABLES???!!!! That's just Great!!!

NOW because I didn't get my BBNCC (BETTER Belden Neutrik Cowboy Cables) patented, registered, and marketed.... I stand to be sued by this outfit using the word "Better" in their description???

That just sucks... First MON$ter, Then BETter, What's next.... :sobbing:

The fun part of the "boutique cable" market is that, as soon as your signal gets from the cable into the receiver, it travels through the cheapest electronic parts the manufacturer could possibly find to do the job. But as long as they can persuade suckers, I mean folks to spend hundreds of dollars on cables, PTBarnum will be smiling in his grave.

It's rediculous, a composite cable is 100$, COMPOSITE CABLE!!!

What a joke, i'd rather just use the composite cables that come with the dvd player and tv sets. Also Kevin i checked that site out very reasonable prices:)

So it looks from a price pointm that "BETTER CABLES" are more expensive than the MON$TER CABLES which i though already was expensive.

Matt - step away from the site and have yourself a martini before you end up shooting your monitor or something hehe.

I agree, their prices are extremely high, specially when you'd think their site should be taking out the middle man to reduce prices..

thanks for the link. I'll order my DVI cables right away. I couldn't beleive Monster wants $100 for a DVI cable. I wonder how much it costs making them? Target sells component and other cables much cheaper but no DVI. I tried Walmart but no DVI either. The $100 monster cable seemed more rediculous after I walked by some special items going for $99.00 at Walmart: electric guitars, mirror telescopes, metal detectors. And for under $80: guitar amps, bass amps, DVD players. What makes these monster cable s so expensive. Are they better than the ones at hdtv supply?

"What makes these monster cable s so expensive. Are they better than the ones at hdtv supply?"

Because they mark them up for high profit margins, sign deals with vendors to be up front on the rack and market the hell out of them.... As for being better, with digital cables like DVI and HDMI, as long as you have a signal, the PQ will be the same regardless if it's the free out of the box cable or a $100 monster cable. You don't need to worry about better DVI and HDMI cables until you get over 5 meters in length. Analog cables are a whole another can of worms, some people claim there is no difference, others do, bottomline is it comes down to what looks best to you.

I think it's due to the materials being used to make the cables, plus the 24K gold connectors count for the price so high.

Now if they sold there cables at reasonable prices like form 15$ for their standard cables, and 50$ for their high end cables then Monster would be more reasonable and not so rediculous.

Hey guys, I tried this this weekend, go buy a set of "expensive" HDMI cables- I bought mine at R.S. for 99.00, install the cable that comes in the box and watch a section of a movie on your dvd, then put the more expensive cables on and watch again. The difference is like night and day! much cleaner and sharper with better cables...

And this statement was about what? It's easy to write mean things when you don't have to say it ones face. Any constructive opinions?

6' DVI cable, 6' optical cable, surge protector, and digital video essentials DVD all for 104.95 shipped. All this was cheaper than 1 monster DVI cable. :hyper:
Oh, and they have great e-mail communications which included their phone number each time they responded. They even accepted Paypal.

Were you comparing two HDMI cables? HDMI is digital, it's 1's and 0's going across the wire, a more expensive cable is not going to change them to make the PQ better... The only way you'd see an increase is if the cheaper cable was dropping data or picking up a lot of interference that was corrupting the data...

maybe with your cheap reciever. my amp and tuner where 7,000 dollers there are no cheap electronics here.

I dont think it's about cheap electronics, I have tried cheap cables and expensive ones. The difference is extremely minimal at best.

Right now I have the expensive cables hooked up, but that's only because I got them so cheap. I dont consider my electronics to be "Cheap" as you stated, So I can give an opinion based on similar equipment. You seem a little rude from what I have read...

OT - Max. I just went with DefTech's/7.1 (7001 not 7000), Sharp 12K and 110" screen. Final install is a few weeks away. Are you happy with the Deffies?

Well I purchased a replacement 10' premium DVI->HDMI cable at RAMELECTRONICS.NET. Got it for about 50 bucks. It's premium cuse it has a thicker cable and gold ends.
