the display looked great at the store, my hdtv cable has not come yet ,but dvd 's with progressive scan still look bad. I guess it is pixilaztion or scrreen door effect. the backgounds and darks (black and some greens) look to digitized. Would buying a regular hdtv projection fix this? I am viewing this from about 10 feet. thanks

I just had mine delivered on January 31st. The Zenith E44W45LCD is a rear projection set; it just uses an LCD imaging system instead of phosphor burn-prone CRTs that like to go out of alignment at the drop of a feather. (Does anyone know whether the lamp on the Zenith can be user replaced? I see a "hatch" on the lower right side of the cabinet with a dire warning not to remove under penalty of electrocution - is that the lamp access?) I also noticed that DVDs from my Pioneer DVD player/recorder are less sharp than I was expecting, but, then they're not HD, I have no way of knowing the quality of the Pioneer's internal doubler, and maybe I was just expecting too much. In any case, I'm pleased with my new display's performance with HD content - satellite and OTA. When HD DVDs and recorder/players show up, I can see I'll probably be in the market.
