I have a Hitachi 51f510, sa hd 8300 dvr and a silver sensor antenna. I have had the antenna hooked up to antA and antB on the back of the TV and tried to get the last playoff football HD OTA broadcast from Fox by tuning to 29 and got a great signal but it was definetly not HD. The info below says that foxdt is 29.1, but I do not know how to tune to that. I do not see how I could do it with the remote. I am having a super bowl party and I really want to watch the broadcast in HD. Can someone please help?

Since your TV does not have an internal HD tuner, does your cable comapny offer FOX in HD? If not you will need a seperate HD tuner.

I am talking about Over the Air tuners like Samsung or others

If his TV has no tuner then how did he get the FOX channel via the Zenith SS antenna? Does the SA HD8300 not have an ATSC tuner? BTW, that FOX channel is mapped to 29.1 but its broadcast channel is 14.

So If I tune to 14 when there is HD programming on fox it should come in HD or do I still need a HD tuner?

You need an HDTV tuner: your SA HD8300 does not support over-the-air HDTV, and the method for decoding HD is different on the SA than it is an over-the-air signal: if you tune to channel 14 with a conventional tuner, you'll see nothing: you need an HDTV over-the-air tuner

Yeah, ummm, I get the sense that the two of you think I need a tuner. Call me crazy, but I think that is what you are saying :headscrat . I will be recieving the Samsung SIR-T451 today and I'll let you know how it goes with the Zenith Silver Sensor. Thanks again!

Everything is set up and working great. I get ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, WB, and PBS all in high def with a very strong signal. I also get some station called "Think Bright" (not sure about the type of programming they have) and a Buffalo Weather radar station. I really wanted to get Fox and the WB and those station come in very strong. Watching the Super Bowl in HD on Fox was Awsome. The Silver Sensor does exactly what I need it to do. I could not ask for anything more, well, it would be nice if the sci-fi channel was in HD. Oh yeah, the Samsung SIR-T451 is super easy to set-up and use and has worked flawlessly so far.
