Hi, I have a HDTV from philips that is just great. I have Time Warner HDTV broadcasting and a progessive scan DVP642 from philips.

My questions is this:
I have 1 set of monster standard component video cable.
I have 1 set of monster ultra component video cable.

I'm running fiber between the DVD player and receiver and a digital coax between the cable box and the receivier for audio.

Which monster cables should I use where. ie, standard vs ultra.

DVD player is 480p, Cable is 1080i.

I was thinking originally to use the best for whichever I watch more, but I was wondering which box would take most advantage of the more expensive cable.

Thanks for your replys in advance!

Adam

Use the cable box component cables that came with your box and use the standard on the DVD player. Return the ultra.

If no cables came with the box, still return the ultra and get standard.

As you can tell, many of us believe there is no significant difference between "expensive" cables and "good" cables. If you want to keep both Mon$ters, use the "better" one for the HD signal.

However, if you can return it, do so, and get a less expensive "good" set (like AR) for a lot less money and just as good a signal.

OK, thanks for the replies. I thought there was SOME difference between ultra and standard that was worthwhile. Guess not! I was going to buy the ultra's because I could get them for 50 bucks instead of 100 through a friend at a retail store with his discount. Still no go on them even if they're half price???

Thanks!

I'd say get the $50 ones for $25. ;)

This gives you some idea of the mark up on Mon$ter stuff.

lol, nice idea but they only stock the ultra's. Getting the regular ones for a better price was my first thought. :)

highjacking my own thread real quick ;)

that is the home theater in a box that i have. (ballin on a budget)

The wire that came with it is very thin. Would it be worth upgrading to a lower gauge wire, ala 16gauge while i'm the retail store getting my digital audio wires on "sale" too?

Leavin in a few minutes. If someone could post that'd be awesome (57U)

Yes. Lampcord would work wonderfully...
