I rented this video, but guess what.. No filters. Im wondering what these things actually are? Im guessing they are just colored celephane. Like 3 d glasses or something.. Im wondering if I can go to my local hobby shop and buy just sheets of opaque film in the needed colors. Will this work?

The most important one is the 'blue' for setting color and tint. You can probably get away with not using the red and green.

It is a dark blue, and yes, much like the one in the 3d glasses.

You would just have to get the correct 'shade' I guess.

Try a search or two on the net, maybe you could get an idea....

absolutely, the color filter are extremely neccesary to set the color properly.Using the blue is fine, but red and green are even more important, to eliminate the red push and green depression commonly known on all hdtv sets.

The key is to match the colors to the NTSC system of D6500K as closely as possible, since everything uses that system, from dvd's to videogames to vhs, etc.

Make sure you set your color temp to warm, and adjust from there.Don't worry, once calibrated properly the picture won't be redish once the red push is eliminated and green is set at a proper level using the color filters.

After calibration, your set should be so detailed, and dead accurate that your dvd's will look almost HD, they do on mine:)

I'm still waiting to borrow my brothers camear to take some pics of my set and post them, oh well hopefully i'll get a chance maybe tommorow.

Cool. thanks for the advice and the link. You guys have any resources to find out what all the settings are and do in the service menu? Ive been messing around with them alittle but Id like to have a better understanding of what each one does before I go crazy with adjusting all of them.. thx. again..

I got my AVIA DVD with the filter and I'm not sure how to use them. I have the KLV26HG2 and a Sony DVP-NS775V. Originally I had the DVP-NS575 DVD player and I used AVIA to calibrate the LCD and I noticed an improvement, however with this new DVD PQ has worsened. I still haven't been able to set the colors correctly either using the filters. Can some one give me a step by step on using the filters? Thanks in advance. :)

I don't have my Avia with me but just go to the 'Basic Video Adjustment' section and watch the tutorial. It is explained in detail and shows what to look for in the test patterns.

It looks fine now with the settings I did adjust, which was everything not related to colors and hue's.

I put the swatches on the screen and I'm not sure what to look for.

You can simply contact AVIA and they'll send you new filters. Lots of people have done this in the past.
