defective antenna

I want to improve reception for UHF HD. I have a Channel Master long range yagi - it is the type with solid bowties in pairs along the boom. However, a couple of the bowties have fallen off, they have not broken off in pairs. My question is will the antenna still work well, will it work better if I break off other bowties so they are symmetrically defective.

IMO... get a new antenna if you need to improve your reception.
How can you make a broken antenna work better?
