A friend is having a very strange problem that I need help with.
At times on the remote and on the side of the TV he can't scroll through the channels with the ch+ or ch- buttons. He can change the channel by typing in the number but that is a hard way to surf. He said if he goes through the channel set-up program he can then scroll like normal then he'll power off the TV and turn back on he'll lose ability to scroll channels again and he'll have to go through set-up program again. Sony help line has'nt been any help yet. If we can't help him he'll try to get a tech out.

Take the batteries out of the remote and press a few buttons while they're out. This may "reset" the remote. Put batteries back (perhap even fresh ones) and give it another try.

If you're saying that there are buttons on the TV itself that also don't work, perhaps there is a problem with the TV. Try unplugging the TV for 1/2 hour to see if it'll reset.

Sony also told him the same things. But he did'nt unplug it from the wall that long, he said he'll try that tonight.
