Jvc Xv-sa75gd & Dvd-r

I am thinking of purchasing the JVC XV-SA75GD DVD player. I was wondering does anyone know if this unit can play DVD-Rs? Also if anyone has any comments on this unit, such as compatibility with other medias, freezing, or skipping.
