Hi i just purchased the PT-43LC14 lcd tv about 2 weeks ago and i have been hearing alot of people talking about the lamp only lasting about 1200 or less hours. here is a link with alot of posts on this :http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/2/121989.html
Is this a known issue with these tvs, I have never herd anyone with this tv series have the bulb last more then 1500 hours

Did you notice the model #'s from that link? All of them are 40, 50, and 60 series. The one you bought is a 43. Maybe the problem has been fixed? All I can say is, if all you are going to do with this set is worry about the bulb going out instead of enjoying the TV, then cancel your order and pick another TV. I really do not know what else to tell you.

Well in all honesty DLP's and Projection LCD's are great when they work. That is the key. Loved mine...
Till the bulb went with less then 500 hours. Then the power supply/ballast a year later.
I don't want a TV that costs over $300 per year parts wise no matter how good it is.
But then I have heard the opposite stories too. Bulbs lasting longer and the set being great.
I won't buy a TV that even says you will have to replace parts in X hours. To me...It is the industries way to screw consumers.

I think the fact that the bulbs burn out is not a problem at all, what the problem is, is the fact that they will charge $450 for a bulb which from the sounds of it will only last about 3000 or less hours. If they charged $100 for a bulb or even $200 canadian for a bulb i could handle that and i would be more then happy to pay but $500 with tax is Way to high for a lamp which in the tvs life will be changed at least 7 times im sure.

i figure that by the time i need the bulb they will be cheaper, the only thing i'm worried about is that since they aren't going to be a widely purchased item (only by owners of the specific tv) that they won't drop in price.

the bulb for the pt43lc14 is the same for the whole series, so the 50 inch and the 60 both have that bulb aswell, so there are a few tvs that will require it.

Personally, I think anyone with any doubts should quite honestly just get over it. If you sat and debated the "what ifs" of every single item that you ever purchased in your life, you'd have damn near nothing.
It's one thing to be a concerned or informed consumer but if there's one issue you've heard alot of on one set, there are bound to be half a dozen more on another set.
If you like the television, like the picture, feel it's within your budget then buy it, rather than drive yourself nuts about the "what ifs".
