 I'm new to this and only had my new HDTV a few weeks! My analong stations are junk to HD. I have HD Digital cable. The basic channels that Cox Connecticut cable brings in are in analog. I was wondering if I install a OTA antenna (as my HDTV is equipt for it) if I would be able to bring any of these channels in as digital? I'm sure all the channels they carry are analog. I do receive HD and limited DTV channels thru my CableCard system (no box) I have a clear shot at towers according to Antenna search sites. Also wondering if I would pick up anything else floating around? Don't want to go thru trouble if not going to make a differance. Any info would help, :overclap: :hyper:
I'm a bit confused by some of your statements. The HD channels you get are digital, there are no analogue HD channels. So I guess you're trying to pick up the "cable analogue" channels digitally?
By using OTA, you may be able to get some HD (and SD) channels that you can't currently get by cablecard, but I'll leave it to someone in your area with more experience to comment...
Check out the FAQ on "Can I get HD Cable Using my internal tuner" and the two OTA FAQs.

It sure sounds as if you are in Newington or Wethersfield, and the COX HDTV signals are known for being over-compressed and generally lousy looking on that system. Chances are that, with a small outdoor antenna and a rotator that you can get all of the CT and Sprigfield stations. If you already have an HDTV tuner in your TV, go over to Signal Electronic Supply in West Hartford and pick up a Winegard HD7082p, or a Wade-Delhi VU933SR antenna and a Channel Master 9521a rotator, and mount them on your roof. You will see WFSB-DT, WTNH-DT, WTXX-DT, WVIT-DT, WCTX-DT, WTIC-DT, WGGB-DT, WWLP-DT, WGBY-DT, and probably a few that I can't even remember at the moment.

And check www.antennaweb.org to see what digital OTA channels may be available in your area.

Yep, your right, trying to get digital signals for OTA. My cable co cox connecticut doesn't do ABC HD (and no telling when) and other basic channels don't come over digital. On my new HDTV it shows them as analog on tv channel selector for these local channels. I live in Meriden Ct 06450 and have been to antenna.org.

I live in Meriden Ct 06450 and have a clear shot at gaylord mt. considering it to get ABC HD. Not know when Cox is ever going to get ABC signed up! Wondering if they are getting any new DTV or HD channels.

Oh, you're in Meriden! OK, so you are halfway between Hartford and New Haven. You can pick up everything from that location with a proper antenna, including WTXX-DT, the WB station and WCTX-DT from New Haven, the UPN station. Try a Channel Master 4228 8-bay antenna on the roof with a rotator, and you'll never want to go back to COX for your HD again!
