Has anyone added a mac mini (or something else like it) to their setup? can it be done? it has a DVI port, plus a DVD-R is available & pretty decent size hard drive... what would be some of the limitations, if any?

Although I’ve never been an Mac user this form factor is very intriguing. All I can say is Shuttle better be watching the developments of the Mac Mini. If it weren’t for the limitations of the PVR software I would be seriously considering adding it next to my SFF Shuttle.

The main issues are drive space and no digital audio out I believe. I read a post over on avsforum stating all the reasons it would be bad to use a mac mini as a HTPC but I can't find it at the moment, I'll look for it later...

I just have recently received my mac mini and plan to add in to my HTPC setup, I currently use mythtv and will add my mac mini to it as my front-end, So All of the recordings are on the backend computer with lots of space , so my 80gb mac drive doesn't have to suffer. For those who don't want to use the standard speaker jack on the back and want to use the higer end Digital audio just get the Sound USB Blaster 2 Audigy NX (http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=204&product=9103&nav=technicalSpecifications)
I'll keep the progress of my project posted.

My mac mini is now connected to Toshiba 44" DLP projection television.
It works with the RGB connection, using the APPLE accessory included with the mac mini, an adapter DVI x VGA (=RGB). When connected the picture fit nicely.
To read text easier I change to 16:9 screen. I had to buy the VGA male x VGA male cable from CompUSA together with a RCA x headphone cable to get sound from the mac mini to the TV. An external USB sound card will enable the mac mini to improve sound output
I bought the APPLE Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth mouse with airport card, 512MB, DVD burner, & 80 GB hard drive.
I connected my old 120 GB external hard drive to the mac mini and it also fits on the shelf near my DVD player, VCR, mac mini, and BJC-85 portable printer.
Now I surf the net in my TV room. The TV stand I bought from COSTCO for $100.
It doesn't seem to impress my stepdaughter's boyfriend who is a windows enthusiast/expert. He calls the mac mini the I-BRICK!

Screw him, haha. It sounds like you have a very easy-to-manage set up there, and I'm certain that dollars to donuts you wouldn't be able to achieve the same with a PC-based platform (not without suffering in performance).

Besides, who wants to muck with getting a virus on your television? hehe
