Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum and new to HDTV. However, I am looking into buying my first HDTV and have found a system that is peeking my interest. Sears is having a sale on the Philips 55" 55PP9352 model and Philips is "throwing in" a home theater system (LX3500D37) with the purchase. I like the number of inputs and pretty sure I will like the size screen for my living space. Thing is, I can't find hardly any reviews on this model and how Philips ranks amongst the contenders in HDTV. Can some of you shed some light on Philips and if possible this exact model (or its 60" counterpart). Thanks in advance! Rich

I recently purchased the phillips you mention. the picture with standard cable isn't great, some channels are much clearer than others so i don't know if its the tv or the cable system. dvd playback is excellent, i have and hdtv set top box (stb) on order so i can't give you feedback on that but if its as nice as the demonstration in the store than there is nothing to worry about.
hope this helps.

Tracy, welcome to the forum.

Do not wait for a few months to calibrate with AVIA. There is nothing wrong with doing it right away, as a matter of fact it's recommended.

See the post "What you need to do to your new HDTV" in the FAQ section.

Philips is one of the most under-rated brands out there. They are now just pricing to be competitive. Zenith and Philips are 2 companies that started the Hd revolution. They did much of the original development. When this all started many manufacturers collaborated-Toshiba/Hitachi,Zenith/JVC and Pioneer/Sharp
