How much difference in quality of antenna's, example radio shack VU120XR
vs. channel master 3018, visually they appear close, radio shack list a greater
distance for there antenna's.
Just my opinion, but the build quality is about the same, good. I'd just use the distance specs as a guide, they vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Winegard and AntennasDirect antennas have an excellent build quality from what I can tell from some research I did in the past. On the Winegard it may vary by the model.
Personally I have an old Channel Master in my attic that work fine. I've been wanting to try one of the antennas from www.antennasdirect.com but since the old CM is working I never seem to get around to it. :)
I installed the $25 UHF directional from RadioShack for a friend and it is working great at about 25 miles.
