I recently bought an OTA HD reviever/DVD player (LG 3510A). The receiver works great with one small exception. When I use the DVI connection (as opposed to the component) and I set the output resolution to 1080i (on the receiver), I begin to notice an area of slightly lighter image, about 2-3 inches wide, like a vertical stripe, which moves from right to left across the screen in a sweeping type motion. The intensity varies, and appears to increase to a particular point and then reset to a barely noticeable level before gradually increasing again. The entire cycle takes about 10 seconds.

I have no problems with other resolution modes (e.g. 720p, 480p or 480i). I have no problems with other input methods (e.g. component, s-video, etc). It only happens with DVI-1080i selected as the output.

I tried a more expensive cable, moving components around, etc.

Anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks in advance.

I have the same set and the same problem. I had a techie come out and he replaced the "D" board. I'm assuming this is the digital tuning board or something like that...Anyways, it looked great, for a while. Now it's back again. It started out slow, about a 10 count to cross the screen. Now it's about a 3 count to cross it. Just like you, I notice it really on dark images, night scenes and during the credits. I'm gonna call the service guy again. I have the extended warranty. The way I see it, I paid a lot of money for a "perfect picture" and I'm gonna have it. It was there no matter what connection I used, component, DVI. I haven't tried changing the resolution from the cable box to 720 or anything like that...although I might try it now that you mentioned it. Let me know what you come up with for a solution to this problem. Hope this helped. Jim. Good Luck!!!!

PS I re-read your post and you sound like the problem is with the receiver. Mine is with the tv, I hope yours isn't, but it sounds like the same problem.
