Hi,

I recently had the main board and tuner block replaced on my TV because of a problem with the Tuner and now the TV has a blue hue and blue distortion lines when it first starts up. It fades after about 5 minutes and then everything looks normal again! You can REALLY see it in a dark room, and against a black background. The whole screen looks blue, and the lines looks distorted and bent at the top and bottom - about 5 or six lines total. Any ideas here? It didn't do this with the old board so something has to be set wrong - any ideas how to fix this on this model (I know how to get into the service menu and change the Blue setting but it doesn't seem to fix it)- could it be a voltage overdrive issue? I really hate to have to have the techs come out AGAIN for this set if it's just something easily fixed by turning a knob somewhere. Thanks.

It probably does just need a knob turned, but WHICH knob is the question. I would have them back out and bring another board just in case if at all possible. I mean, the 1st one went out. This 2nd one seems to be funky, on the verge of causing different problems, so why not be on the safe side?

I had that problem with my KP51WS520 after the service tech messed with the blue gun adjustment knobs under the front panel (I think there are 6 knobs in total in a group on a panel). I thought the blue's were to high/bright so he tried to adjust it and didn't get it quite right I guess. It would have these blue wavy lines when first turned on(noticeable on a black unused source). The service tech should be able to adjust it. I returned my TV so it never was fixed for me.

Hi guys!

Thanks for the replies I really appreciate it!

Jacksond,

Just to be sure I got it right, the knobs your tech used were located under the front lower panel (held on by screws) of the set? I don't plan on doing it myself, but if I can't get the tech. out here again soon I may have to. Thanks again!

Yes, the front panel must be removed and then there is another wood panel under that that gives access to the inside components. I think they are pots that control focus and screen maybe?? These type of pots are shown here in photo #5 at this Sony tweak link- http://mvgrafx.dyn.ca/~vmark/documents/KPxxWS500.html I know the tech that was at my place adjusted the blue gun but I am not sure which of the 2 dials or pots he adjusted. After he did this I started noticing the wavy blue lines on black screens. Hope this helps you out.
