I am looking for some help I have a Zenith D32D51 32" Flat screen HD Ready Tv that When you turn it on, the set powers up, makes an odd noise, then shuts itself down. Any suggestions on what i could be and is it worth fixing.

sorry metro...I was on another thread. If the TV was second hand and you didn't pay much $$$ for it last year. I would consider purchasing a new set. There are some direct view HDTV's out there for $700, or so. A RPTV runs for about $1,000 - $1,300.
If you know when the set was manufactured, not when you bought it, but when it was made...if it's only 2-3 yrs, then it might be worth getting a price quote on getting it fixed. If the sets older than 4yrs or you don't know when it was manufactured, maybe you should replace it. That's my advice my friend..

Minimum Charge is about 65-75 for an inhom Diagnosis. Could be something a simple as a ba solder to repalcing a whole circuit board. Replacing boards can be 300-700 dollars.

I have the same TV and the same problem, I figured that it would probably be more expensive to get it fixed than get a new tv. So I bought a Samsung DLP and purchased the extended warranty with Circuit City. I love the DLP, but my Zenith was just that much sharper. I actually took it apart today and poked something here wiggled something there... Im no expert, but nothing looks to be wrong. All the fuses are good, the solder joints are tight. I was hoping to put the Zenith in the bed room. I am going to take it to a repair shop by my house. If it costs to much to fix they will get a new tv. The boards dont look to be warped or cracking. The prepreg on the boards still looks solid (no crumbling edges) but who knows what the center looks like. All I know is im looking at the inside of this thing right now just scratchin my head.
