Hello,

While watching TV yesterday on my PT-53WX54 RPTV, i noticed while the scrren was white that the lower right corner seemed more yellow than white, compared to the rest of the screen. I verified if convergence was OK, and no problem there. I noticed also that if some vertical lines are shown in that same spot that are a bit distorted.

Yesteday I posted about the placement of my speaker and heat caused by the fireplace. Note that I removed the speakers for testing this and that the fireplace has not been used since I got the TV.

Anybody has an idea on what could be the cause of that and if it can be corrected?

Thanks

I think you have screen burn. Do you watch any channels with a logo or anything in the lower right hand corner? If you watch this channel for a long period of time that logo will burn into your screen. I learned this the hard way during the opening of the Iraq war. I now have a yellowish discoloration in the lower left hand part of my screen courteous of Fox News Channel. I don't know of anything that can be done about it short of replacing the screen. And one other thing, it's not covered under any warranty that I know of.

The screen is not what gets burn in, it's the CRT(s). It's usually too expensive to repair, but it can fade a little with time.

Tv is new. I got it 3 weeks ago and have not used it much. Could it already be burn in?

Ti,

Burn in usually happens over a period of time, so I would say it's not burn in. I am sorry I can't help you solve the problem, but at least I can answer it's not burn in. If it's only 3 weeks old, call your place of purchase and have it looked at. It should be under warranty.. (if your tv was an open box purchase, or a floor model, that might be a different story), but check where you purchased it and have it looked at so that can correct your problem.
