I've had many different people tell me that component video on the Panasonic CT-32HXC14 is extremely dark, but no one could confirm whether or not the same applied to the CT-32HL44. I plan on doing all my gaming with component cables, so this is a real deal breaker for me. Any advice?

It's not extremely dark, just darker than the composite inputs. On my 2003 model CT32HXC43 i simply adjust the black and white levels a little higher and use the Vivid picture setting for my two component inputs (SA8000HD and RP62K DVD Player) and it looks great. It's not a problem really.
