I like AR cables. They can be purchased at Circuit City or Best Buy around $25

I agree with RATMAN. Monster is also very good but overpriced. AR is best quality for the price.

Funny how prices vary in Canada. I've been amazed that you're able to get the AR cables for $25 in the US. That would be a no brainer for me, because that's what I'd probably buy. In Canada, they are about C$75. While the Radio Shack "gold ends" cables are about C$25 on sale.

57U,

There are 3 versions of AR cables. Perhaps the ones you saw were the 'Professional" series. The ones that BB and CC sell are the 'middle' versions.

Now I understand that alot of people really say they make good cables but my gosh they are soooo expensive I mean I can get some component Monster video 3 cables cheaper then what they have theirs priced at can somebody explain why they are so high.. The prices are high because some individuals really believe that if you spend a lot of money on a cable that either a) you think it sounds better because you spent a lot of money or b) everyone tells you to buy expensive cables because they are better, you don't hear a difference, but because you spent a lot of money you won't admit that you were shafted.

Sorry to those that profess 'high end' audio cables are better. But copper and connectors just carry electrons at a little less than the speed of light. Whether you spend $20 or $200.

If you're up to the test, buy a pair decent cables and a pair of 'high end' cables and you decide. You can return the ones of your choice. Let us know...

BTW... do a 'blind' test (IE have someone swap the cables so you can perform an unbiased comparison)

I have no doubt that the Monster cables are overpriced. I know, I got "sucked" into the Monster mentatlity.

I can tell you that I could hear the difference. Then when I was buying the component cables, I could see a difference.

It was noticeable, to what degree I can't state nor justify the price difference. I knew it was there and I couldnt deal with it.

All my cables are Monster, even my surge protector/power cleaner.

Bill
