I recently purchased a Panasonic 50inch plasma and can not get the HDMI board to work with my Directv HDMI. I have asked everyone in Panasonic tech support to no avail. I was first instructed by Panasonic the DVI would not work with Directv because of the HDCP, and to get a HDMI borad instead. Still no luck when Iinstalled the new HDMI interface board. Help..........

What model Directv receiver do you have? If it's the Tivo, it's possible the receiver is the problem...

If it is a DirecTV TiVo box, DTV has recently admitted to having HDMI problems with this unit and will send you a new one. Are you having problems with the audio, video, or both? I've had a situation where I can't get sound through my HDMI; a discussion is posted elsewhere in this category.

I have sent two TiVo boxes back to DirecTV because of faulty HDMI cards. That is very likely what is causing your problem. They were very good about it and I had no trouble, but it's becoming a pretty common problem and they are starting to take notice as I understand it. IT is definitely worth the trouble to send it back since there is a definite difference in the picture between component (you're next best option) and HDMI. Actually it appears to me to be a problem where the card receiver is attached to the mother board since often with just the right "wiggle" sometimes you can get a signal. At any rate, they are very fragile and you must be pretty careful when you are anywhere near that HDMI plugin.
HDMI is actually audio plus digital video and as far as I know there is no TV on the market yet that is capable of decoding the audio signal from an HDMI cable. I'm pretty sure you have to have another audio source hooked up as well.
