Hi does anyone know how to check how much bulb life i have used on this tv... I hear there is a way. It should tell me how much time i have used on my bulb and/or how much life remains. thanks

I found last years model the PT50LC13 on line, but the remotes are slightly different with this years model the 14 and so the button presses are different. I figured out how to get into the work menu by pressing volume down on the set and holding recall on the remote at the same time for about 5 to 7 seconds. (FYI)If you hold volume down and menu for the same time it resets your tv to shipping specs. I was able to get in factory mode but cant remember button on remote that I pressed. Would like bulb life info as well.

If you get into that menu can i get out without messin anything up or chaning anything? thanks, how long have you had your tv for and how often do you watch it, i have been reading alot of people with complaints that their bulbs do not last as long as they should. thanks

IMO... if there is a "guesstimate" timer in the TV's software/menus, it may have no true indication of the lamp's premature failure. FWIW

Ive had the set since August of last year. It is watched every day with cable, or dvd's and played on with xbox. I read a quick blurb the other day that some folks having problems are people who connect the set to a switched outlet such as the one on the back of cable boxes which shuts off power to the set when the box is turned off, thus shutting off power to the fan which cools the bulb. I am not sure how factual this is but it makes sense. My buddy and I bought the same set the same day neither one of us have had any problems.
I was able to back out from the work mode by holding recall for the same amount of time. Nothing to useful in that area it seems to simply changes your menu options in increments of 4 instead of 1 at a time i.e. color, tint etc...
The shipping specs will shut off your set automatically and be reset when you power up.
Their is something (probably factory mode or something else) that shows the total hours used for the bulb and some stuff for the fan too according to the info I had found on last years model, just dont know where for this years model. Need to get one of those service manuals.

Even if you could keep a running tally of how many hours have been logged on the bulb, it isn't really an indication of when the bulb is actually going to crap out on you.

Hold down simultaneously for 7 seconds:
- the volume down button on the TV
- the TV-Video button on the remote
That should do it.

Just an update, i have had my tv for almsot 1 year now and i have 3908 hours on my original bulb with no problems yet and i have turned on the tv 508 times, I have a feeling it is going to burn out soon since it is almost at 4000 hours now. But that shows that the bulbs will last more then 900 hours that alot of people are stating, just thought i would let anyone know who is thinking of getting this tv.
