I'm currently on my second Toshiba HDTV. The first one, a 55" 4:3 HD RPTV, had a terrible (1.5"!) black fade to the right, and Best Buy's techs couldn't figure out how to fix it. The second one, 57" 16:9 HD RPTV, has 2 yellow blobs on the screen as a result of a blue color gun gone bad. The part is on "indefinite backorder" and I can wait for a new one, or get the money I spent toward a new one. So, I have $2100 toward anything at BB.

I have a very nice wife, and I can probably convince her to spend around $4000 if it's that much better to get a plasma. From what I read, that doesn't seem to be the case. I just want the best PQ and around 50-55". I watch HDTV programming about 1/3 of the time, DVD's 1/3 and SD 1/3.

By watching the BB demo reel for about 10 min, I didn't see the rainbow effect on any DLPs, unless I was darting my eyes back and forth so fast that I couldn't really watch TV comfortably. My wife and I saw a 50" LCD about 6
months ago, and it seemed like fast moving objects were blurry/slow looking. I didn't notice the brand, I was just walking by and didn't figure to be in the TV market anytime soon. I didn't notice that at BB, but maybe their demo reel just doesn't have things that go fast enough. I haven't seen anyone on this board say much about this either.

If you were forced to shop @ BB, and you had my criteria, what would you do?

Thanks for the input!
Ryan

I'd look at the LCD's again and consider DLP as well. You might have seen an LCD being fed a bad/poor signal or connection. Have a BB employee help you out and have them display some action flicks for you and see what you think. You'll be able to get a 50 to 60 inch LCD somewhere between $2,500.00 to $4,000.00.
