I purchased this TV last night and have it hooked up through my DirecTV RCA TiVo unit by S-Video. I have some serious "screen door effect". Any suggestions on settings that can be changed to fix this problem.
I noticed it more when I was watching the NCAA tournament. When the were showing the game from a distance it was really bad. Then when they would zoom, for example, on a player shooting free throws it was a lot clearer.
I am probably sitting approx. 8' away.
Please Help!

I have no idea how to improve SDE, other than sitting farther from the screen. SDE is an inherent characteristic of fixed pixel technologies. Some TVs show it worse than others. The fact that it improves when the picture is zoomed by the broadcast (I assume you mean that the camera moves in for a close-up) shouldn't have any effect on SDE. Perhaps you notice the SDE more with the lighter basketball floor, which makes up a lot more of the picture with the wide views. You can try playing with the settings, particularly the sharpness setting, to try to improve the picture a little. Most TVs have the sharpness turned way up. I turn mine way down (somewhere around 30). It looks funny at first, but in reality, it's a better picture with fewer artifacts. Good luck.
Check out the FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". It may help.

I forgot to address the "what does Zoom 2 do?" question. I'm not sure and the manual doesn't say, but it appears that Zoom 1 expands the entire picture and crops it all the way around, so you lose some information on all sides. Zoom 2 seems to expand the picture primarily in the horizontal direction, so you don't lose much on the top and bottom. This is great for sporting events where they have the scores, etc. at the extreme top or bottom of the picture. I don't use the Zooms at all with HD. Only with SD over cable. The Horizon setting appears to leave the middle of the picture alone and stretches the sides to fill the screen. It distorts the picture at the sides. I can't stand this setting, particularly with pictures that have a lot of movement into and out of the stretched areas. Hope that helps.

I changed my sharpness down and it really did seem to help. Still had some SDE but it seems that the longer I leave the TV on it gets better with the sharpness down. I also dont notice it so much on non-network channels. It seems that is the worst on CBS (which is of course the channel that carries the tournament!).
Thanks for the tip...I will try to keep tweeking it some.
