I'm in the market for some cables for DVD, PS2, HD box... anyone know of a good site to get them cheap and good?
PS2 component cables are really tough to find, dont feel like blowing 60 bucks on them at best buy, any cheaper versions with the same quality?

Any idea what the difference between 1080i and 1080p cables are?

WRX, there will be no difference in price. There are no 1080i/1080p cables. There are different digital hookups. (DVI, HDMI, DVI-HDMI) but no specific 1080p cables for 1080p output.

The PS2 cables are with the kit from Sony you need to buy... Check online, I think the Sony brand kit is like $25 bucks... There's no need for the more expensive Monster version of the kit.

For your STB, DVD players, I would go to www.hdtvsupply.com but for your PS2, I think matt, just above, posted what you need for a good $$

Progressive VS. Interlaced
let's take 480 for example..progressive is when an image on a screen with 480 "lines" of color are shown as a whole image, (all 480 "lines" are shown so you get the entire picture on scrren at once, where as interlaced image is shown as 240 "lines" every 1/30 of a second, and the other 240 lines the next 1/30 second. With interlace, there is never the entire image on the screen at once, with progressive it is. You will find debate over which is better about 1080i/720p b/w some people. You of course should always decide for yourself.. The diff b/w component, and DVI, HDMI? DVI & HDMI are cables that send the signal all digitally. Component cables take a digital signal, turn it to analog, then turn it back to digital when it feeds into you input of your TV...
does this help understand a little more??

There are no "p" (progressive scan) or "i" (interlaced) cables. They are just wires that carry a progressive or interlaced signal which is dictated by the source (DVD, cable/satellite box, etc).

Yeah i think i get the jist of the explaination, thanks. In other words, if my dvd player is progressive scan, then get the p cables. Otherwise i would be fine?

:) WRX,
With a PS dvd player, you can use either component cables (red, blue, green) or you can use an HDMI/DVI if your player supports it.

I do not think a PS2 has any ability or the outputs to do DVI/HDMI
Composite or component only.
