The only place I can find this is crutchfiels and the ben q website. Hope the prices are real. Anyone have any other info on these new ben q LCDs?

looks like a steal! just beware of video inputs, only one component input means that you will have trouble hooking up everything without an AVR that can switch component.

Call me paranoid, but the arrival date is April 1 (April Fools Day) on Crutchfield. I'm not saying the product isn't real, just the price seems a little to good to be true especially when you consider what Sharp charges for their comparable displays. I sincerely hope I'm wrong about this one though. Looks like it's a good price for the set.

My $.02

EDIT: After doing some research, it appears this set is for real, more importantly its price is for real. The MSRP from BenQ is $2399.99 so I guess Crutchfield is selling it below MSRP to start with. I still think the April 1 availability date is a little strange but I guess I'm just being paranoid as I said before. Hopefully someone will get this set and post a review shortly.

Thought I'd give everyone an update. Crutchfield is reporting the availability for this set to be around 05/15/2005 now instead of the previous 04/01/2005. Looks like the set has been delayed about 1.5 months (at least).

Just thought I'd let everyone know.

BenQ is a part owner of one of the largest LCD panel makers in the world, AUO of Taiwan. AUO sells to a number of top brands. My guess is that the quality of the LCD panel should be fine. Not sure about the electronics however. See the article about AUO linked in the "Investing in HDTV" thread posted today.
