Purchased a Hitachi 51s715 and have an outdoor antenna and an older model
dishtv receiver(will upgrade later). How do I connect the dishtv receiver to
set, The Hitachi has 5 position jacks, Antenna A would be coax from receiver,
however what position would my s-video cable from receiver go to..?
Hope I'm clear on this as i need some help, I find nothing in manual to explain
this.

I would use S-Video out from your STB to the S-Video in on the back of your set. I'm not sure what you mean "what position", but press your input button on your remote to get the S-Video signal. When you upgrade to an HD box, then switch to component cables. Do you have any other devices (DVD, A/V Receiver) that you want to hook up?

I was unclear, the Hitachi has 5 inputs on back antenna A&B and 4additional
inputs 2 with s-video, I planned on using Antenna A as my coax in from
the Dish receiver, however I wanted to use the s-video also with audio cables. Which I understand gives a better picture.
I guess what I am asking is will my set work with the s-video with audio
cables from my dish receiver or do I also need to use the coax from sat
receiver to tv.?
Appreciate any help. :(

Okay, I understand your question. Yes your STB should be fine with S-Video, and the RCA audio cables (red & white). With ANALOGUE connections it goes Coax-good, composite (yellow, red, white)- better, and S-Video- best. If you use S-video and RCA audio cables to output your picture and sound, you don't need the coax out from your STB to your TV. When you upgrade your STB to an HD STB, then we can start talking DIGITAL connections... :D
P.S. Just in case you didn't know, when we say STB we mean your dish receiver (stb=set top box) :)

Take your S video cable and place it in input 3 along with the two audio cables to the audio inputs of input 3. You would then watch your Dish box on input 3. Inputs 1 & 2 are for component cable inputs (HDTV) or DVD player with component cables.

Actually I believe VGA is best for analog followed by component, s-video, composite and then RF. In your case s-video is the highest option you have though.
