Anyone know what the difference is between these two TVs. According to CNET the 50 costs upwards of 4000. I'm not sure if that was a misprint or if the price just dropped...a lot...because I've found it on the net for as little as 1999...the same price as the 50. I've heard that there were problems with the 52 out of the box which needed professional calibratoin to fix. Anyone know if the 50 has the same issues. CNET claimed that the 50 had the best picture quality of any direct view they've seen?
Anyone know anything about this or can anyone attest to the greatness of the 50?
Thanks,

I'm not real sure on what the differences are. But I do know that the 50 is two years old now and the 52 just came out in September '02. There were problems with the 50 that they corrected in the 52. I wouldn't recommend going with the older model. As far as the darkness problem goes, I am one of the original people who posted that problem. It isn't too bad if you adjust the settings correctly and watch dvds with the lights off. However, if you try to watch a movie like Blade 2 with the lights on, a lot of the details are too hard to make out. So far I am pleased with the set. As far as burn goes, I always use the JUST setting. When watching TV like this for more than 10 minutes you do not even notice the stretching towards the sides. I have not yet purchased an HDTV receiver to experience the full capabilities of this set. Once I do, I am sure I will be completly satisfied with my purchase.
