View Full Version : Remote Control Code for Motorola STB

I searched the HDTVoice forums and most people seem to indicate that one of the General Instrument remote control codes would work for the Motorol STB.

I have a Sharp LC-32GA5U and I tried all the "General Instrument" codes listed in the Sharp manual and I was not able to successfully program the Sharp remote control for the Motorola STB.

Has anyone had any success programming a Sharp remote control to control a Motorola STB? If so, I'd like to know which code you used.

I contact Sharp customer support and they tell me that the only codes they have are the ones printed in the manual that comes with the TV.

I know I can use the remote control that my cable company gave me for the Motorola STB but I'd rather use the Sharp remote control as it has the advanced functions that I use rather often for the TV.

Thanks.

This is absolutely no help for you, but I am also trying to get my TV's remote to control, the Motorola STB. The Motorola codes don't work. Funny thing is, I tried to program the STB remote to control the TV and none of the Phillips codes worked. Cable guy came out to hook up the digital STB and when I got home the STB remote (which he did not switch out, I still have my old remote) now operates the volume and power for the TV. The exact oposite of what I wanted, but atleast I am able to use one remote for about 30 percent of the use.

I will be patiently awaiting a response with some useful info on this thread.

I suggest both of you do a search at remotecentral.com also, there is a lot of remote info there.

See if the site HERE (http://www.cjhengineering.com/hdtv/cablehdtv/dct6412remoteAC.htm) is of any help.

I suggest both of you do a search at remotecentral.com also, there is a lot of remote info there.

They have several forums about various remote controls. Different forums for different models. They seem to have more activity on those forums than this site has.

Whodathunk there's be a support group for remote controls? Wow!

Only problem I have is ... what to search for. I'll be reading posts over there for a while...so if I don't post here for days ya'll know where I am. :sherlok:

See ya.
