Hi folks!

New here. Great source of info! I am very new to the whole HDTV thing, so have much to learn.

At any rate, I bought a C32V37 this past June and have been enjoying it quite a bit, until recently.

A month or so ago, I noticed that the focus would go in and out. This was expecially noticeable on things like program listing grids. You could watch the lines blur and then re-focus, although they rarely ever would go back to the kind of clarity that they should have. That was bad enough, but being otherwise busy with work and whatnot, I let it ride for a couple of months. Then, the other day, the picture went almost totally black, with only a few outlined highlights of images occasionally coming through in a dark orange/amber sort of color. Last straw.

So, I called an authorized Zenith repair shop nearby and they've taken the set and will let me know what is wrong. They said to expect it to take about a week to be repaired. The parts are still under warranty, but not the labor. I'm looking at about $300 out of pocket for labor and pickup/delivery. :mecry:

Any information about similar problems or experiences or just general comments appreciated.

I will post a follow-up when I know more.

Thanks!

Bob

Had a quick chat with the repair shop today and the man said they had a transformer on order for me. He said that he'd call when that was in and they had determined if there was anythign else going on or not. Should hear in a few days, hopefully.

Well, I got the TV back, and they replaced the transformer and tuned and adjusted the set. On the same day, I went out and swapped our regular cable box for the one that puts through HD signals. BOY DOE THE PICTURE LOOK GOOD!!!

Now, to cross my fingers and hope it doesn't crap out again...

Good luck, and keep us informed!
What kind of tuning got done? I wonder if mine needs a tune up... :drool11:

Thanks, Stmija!

I can't claim to know much about it, but evidently the transformer controls focus/sharpness and brightness, and the technician needs to set those up properly.
