noob question

hi all!!!!

i am new to this site,and proud new owner of a panny 43in. lcd. I want to set up my color,contrast sharpness,etc. to the best settings. Can someone please give me some good settings that their tv is on,and some extra hdtv tips wouldnt hurt either!! thanks

Please read the HDTV FAQs, especially the one on "What you need to do to your new HDTV". Each TV and situation is unique, so another person's settings are not really valid.

57U is right, if you read the FAQs you'll find some good tips about settings. But here's my two cents, and they'll probably match what you'll find in the FAQs:

For standard, non-HD programming, I use Normal...or Vivid with the Gamma set to the middle or lowest setting.

For HD, I'm sure full Vivid looks great but I haven't signed up yet. For DVDs, I use the same.-Vivid.

Haven't found a use for Cinema/Movie yet, way too dark although some will disagree.

I agree with MKohrs, i only use Normal or VIVID. Way to much detail loss with Cinema. Do a search for "PT43LC14 settings" and you'll find a couple of threads for this set.
