Anyone know how to access the user menu? I called SA and tried the guide/info buttons at same time with STB off but it's locked out. I guess time warner locks it's box's out. Just wondering if anyone knows a trick to get in.
I'm trying to see if the box is in the 4*3 mode, I want to see if pass thru will make a difference while I'm waiting for my HD DVR.

Do you have an SA8000 or an SA8000HD?
You say you're waiting for an HD DVR... The SA8000HD is an HD DVR.
If the guide/info doesn't work, then you may have passport software, not SARA. Still the following FAQ may help because there are instruction in the "setup guide" for how to change formats.

You don't hold them at the same time. You push the center "diamond" select button until the mail light lites. Release it and then push the info button. Use left/right arrows or remotes page+/- to scroll thru. Box can be on or off. This is for SARA based units.

I have the SA 8000 DVR. NOT the HD DVR. It doesn't even have component jacks on the back. SA said hold the guide/info button down. I read the link already. I've tried holding the diamond (select button) down but no mail light comes on.
I wonder if only the HD STB has this function?

Dano, if you don't have the HD DVR, how do you expect to change formats or invoke passthrough? The only format you have is 480i.
Once you get the SA8X00HD, then you'll be able to run the setup wizard and invoke passthrough, etc.

If you were trying to access the setup wizard, the previous instructions were correct.

Thanks 57U... I was currious to see if It had a pass thru mode. I'm stuck with this box for a month or more so I was trying to get a better picture in the mean time.
The HD boxes are on back order thru Time Warner due to the high demand.
I guess everyone is finally getting HD TV sets. :overclap:
