Cool. But no pictures.
Its not the worlds largest or highest resolution display. Its not even ATSC 1080i resolution because that would require over 6 million lights and this is short of that.
I forget where the biggest display exactly is but I think its in a mall in Las Vegas....

Start speaking in english. What exactly do you mean by this post? Are you saying there is a factual error in my post or that the digital video display I am talking about in the mall does not exist? It does.
No, as usual, You start the post off with someone is wrong and your not.
As of now whatever display that you are talking about is NOT the largest. Otherwise Guiness Book of records would not be recognizing the Turner Field display as the largest.

World’s Largest Outdoor High Definition Display Debuts at Turner Field
Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision™ Screen is Centerpiece of Braves’ Renovated Home
CYPRESS, Calif., March 23, 2005 — The world’s largest outdoor high definition display will greet and entertain Atlanta Braves fans at the newly renovated Turner Field this season. The 5,600 square-foot Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision screen, which will be recognized by Guinness World Records at a special ceremony on March 23, is 71 feet tall and 79 feet wide, weighs 50 tons and has more than five million LED lights.
“The Diamond Vision display is the centerpiece of the Turner Field renovation, and will give fans a video experience unequalled in major league sports,” said Terence McGuirk, vice chairman of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) and chairman and president of the Atlanta Braves. “This screen is almost three times the size as our old display, and seeing the replays, videos and animations in high definition screen will add even more excitement to the Turner Field experience.”
“We are thrilled that the Braves selected Mitsubishi Electric to create what we believe is the crown jewel of ballpark displays, and are proud that Diamond Vision once again has set a new standard in large-scale video display performance,” said Mark Foster, general manager for Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Diamond Vision Systems Division. “Mitsubishi Electric is an industry leader in consumer high definition displays, and only Diamond Vision can bring that quality and expertise to large-scale video displays as well.”
Even if it displays in 720p it is still HD by definition..If it works the same way as this one by Mitsubishi, then it displays 1080i.

No where did it say HIGHEST RESOLUTION. It said LARGEST HIGH DEFINITION
JCO, As soon as you post a link to "Y", that proves yours is bigger ;) , then we'll put "your" screen at the top of the list. As long as it's simply heresay, it remains off the list.
Just to stray off topic a bit, the Japanese have recently built a Super-high definition camera (4320 x 7680) 450" screen. Click "Thursday" and scroll down to the bottom "High Definition and then some." Watch video (not actual definition ;) )

All posts that were simply "bickering" have been removed from this thread. Anyone wishing to post a link to a large TV they think is the biggest, may do so.

The screen in the Fashion Show mall is made up of a large number of smaller screens. Oh, by the way, I walked by the new Wynn Casino that's opening at the end of the month and I think that his screen out front is by far the biggest and clearest one on the strip now.

It doesnt really matter if a large screen is made up of subsections or not if the subsections are linked and the device displays as one without any gaps. I really doubt any of these really big displays are actually one piece. It would only make it difficult to build, transport, and assemble and there would be nothing really gained by it....

Well it's not the biggest screen in the world but, those huge screens you see at bestbuy look pretty cool.I'm guessing though that they are a bunch of small screens combined into one bigscreen.

In this case, I saw a television documentary about this display on one of those channels like history channel, discovery channel, etc. and what it is is the roof of an entire length of shopping mall in LV that has much larger dimensions than those posted in the MIT's news wire. It does stills, video, graphics, etc. Its an attraction unto itself...

This is the perfect time to bring up something BAD that occurs over and over again on this forum. Somehow you think that a "link" to some posting/website anywhere on the internet is absolute "PROOF" of a fact. .
The link is not the only "proof", that's why I left your first post. Subsequent bickering posts have been removed.
Some people also have built up enough credibility, that when they say something, others are likely to believe them.

to back up what 57's saying JCO whats the point of moderators then if a newbie comes to this forum and doesnt understand a subject and we educate them on it.... you say one link doesnt provide enough proof.... sorry but in most cases i personally feel its sufficient simply because a newbie doesnt want to be blown away with information at the start and not understand what we are trying to relate to them...

I'd say the credibility of the link depends on what is linked.
The official Guinness site would definitely qualify as a credible link when the "World's Largest" anything is being debated.

We all want that but I think the easiest way to learn is when answers are given to you at a technical level close to where you are at. Too high or too low isnt going to do someone anywhere near as much good as the highest level answer they still can understand. Agreed?

It works for me... .
From its sweeping stage 90 feet overhead, this new show lights up the night from within the enormous Fremont Street canopy, a vast backdrop stretching the length of over five football fields. Each night, visitors will be treated to jaw-dropping displays of super-sized animation and high resolution special effects. This high-tech, digitally-delivered big screen system, created by LG CNS Co., Ltd., is fueled by over 12.5 million energy-efficient LED modules. While increased numbers of pixels added to overall resolution and clarity enhancement, the creators were also able to utilize over 16.7 million color combinations in creating more eye-catching and intense visual images. The technology also allows for new special effects, including split screen viewing, screen rotations, the integration of customized event footage, and live video feeds.
Link works for me, but the pictures don't come out - they're x'd out. I've used Safari and IE on a Mac and IE6 on my work PC.

Yes... no pictures for me either, but the text is what I was relaying.
Using Google, you can also get more info about Fremont St. Lightshow.
