Hi folks. First-time poster, long-time lurker. I bought a Panny PT-53TW54 last month and I'm happy with the TV...with one exception. DVDs have a slight bend to the left at the very top of the screen, reminiscent of what some worn VHS tapes used to do.
It's not apparent when watching regular sat TV (don't have HD yet), but some DVDs are really bad. It's only about an inch of the screen, though it's distracting as hell. I've gone through three different DVD players, and all have the same issue, so it's got to be something with the TV. The only saving grace so far is that I don't see this bend in movies that are letterboxed, and it seems like most of my collection is 2.35.
Anyhow, is there an easy way I can fix this? I've just ordered the DVE DVD -- are there features there that will help? Or do I have to wade into the service settings? If so, what should I look for? Geometry settings?
Any advice would be much appreciated. I would call the store, but I don't trust their tech guys, and I've already gone through TV hell with them, having sent back two RCAs with major problems in January. (Never, ever, ever buy an RCA product, folks. I ignored the warnings, because I had a great experience with a couple of RCA sets bought in the early 1990s, and almost got burned here. Incredibly shoddy crap these days.)
