Hey everyone,

I am going to have a rptv delivered tomorrow and I need to get some interconnect cables. I just had a few questions:

1.) Are Monster Cables the best???

2.) What about Acoustic Research, are they any good????

3.) What type cable is best to use to run video from cable box and DVD, is it a component cable , S-Video cable or optical cable????

Thanks for all your help............
Scott

General consensus is that Monter cables are overpriced. I would certainly agree with that opinion.

ARs are good and often are reccomended as a cheaper, and just as good or better, alternative to Monster.

Best connection would be, for HD and DVD, component video. For SD programming sometimes S-Video is better because sometimes the line-doubler in your set is better than the one used by a STB through its component video cable.

Optical is used for audio only. That should go from your STB (or, in some cases, TV) to your digital audio receiver. Your TV and components will have instructions on how to do all of that.

Oh, and a quick search of this forum or a look at the FAQ forum would have gotten you the answer just as quickly. :)

Well depends on who you talk to..

Monster is really good, they're kinda over priced but i use them for my prog dvd player for the component and audio and it looks and sounds great..

Now AR(acoustic research) are good cables also, Ive also used them to... Id have to say if your willing to spend some money get the monster cables but in all seriousness AR are prob just as good...

I have an assortment of cable from Monster, AR, Radio Shack and GE. I can not see any difference using a Monster S-Video cable vs the one thrown in when I got Dishnetwork.
