convergence not working

I have a jvc hdct 56 inch widescreen model av-56wp30, the colors are off, when i go to convergence the blue will move and the left will only go left and right, not up and down so i can line up the cross. is there a cure without calling the repair man?

I had the same problem with my AV48WP30. We were watching a DVD and suddenly the red came out of alignment, and I could not adjust it back. A part that controlled the convergence went bad. I called the service man and a couple weeks later it was fixed. Luckily, mine was still under extended warrenty.

You have to enter the service menu (assuming it isn't manual convergence) to do anything past static convergence (single H & V crosshair). If the R&B H&V control won't bring the line(s) into place then it might be a service call time as it would (probably) be a mechinical alignment).
