Anyone else mad about DirecTV's refusal to allow IEEE-1394 (DTVLink/iLink/FireWire) outputs on their satellite receivers?
I find it hard to believe that people will accept a company that refuses to allow consumers their due rights to timeshift shows or tape them for personal use.
Also, their DVI boxes are basically WORTHLESS to Mitsubishi TV owners like myself, unless I use the Component Analog outputs which will probably be "shutoff" for copy protection anyway, and/or downgraded quality.
DISH Network will allow this with their PVR921 and JVC TU-PVR9000 receivers next spring. They will have firewire, hard drives AND be able to export to a D-VHS VCR.
Now that the merger is a no-go, it's only a matter of time before Rupert Murdoch buys DirecTV for FOX and reduces the quality of all their HD to 480p FOX-Widescreen "CrapVision" anyway.
