Hi, I need some help with this situation. I have a 26 in LCD tv that can display 720p and 1080i modes..i also have a laptop with max resolution of 1280X800. I notice when i connect my laptop to my LCD via RGB that the resolution on the tv is 1024x768. Now how can i get it so that i can watch 720p files from my computer on my LCD? since 1024x768 isnt exactly 720p. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Which model LCD do you have? LCDs typically do not natively display 720P, they are usually 768P (as you indicated). The incoming signals are converted to the native format. Perhaps with computers you can use a "portion" of the TV.

Nevertheless, you may wish to look up the native resolution of your TV as all signals will be converted to that resolution. Do a search for PowerStrip in the HTPC forum here and look at the following:
