Hi everybody, I really like this TV...so much so that I'm willing to live with a small problem. Afterall, all good relationships require a little work.

My screen on my PT-50DL54 goes blank intermittently for no reason. It seldomly happens and affects both DVDs and televison broadcast from my cable box and when it does. I pause the show and power/power-up the TV is all is well again. It's a bit annoying, though. I have a four year extended warranty from the dealer and got the TV for a very low price--below the lowest street price today--in an open box deal. I can either call to have it fixed and maybe not see it for a few weeks or pay $500-700 more for a new unit and return this one. I'm inclined to just live with it, but that just me.

Also, I'm wondering what could be cause the problem--bad bulb, overheating, color wheel and whether I should expect the problem to get worse?

Thanks!

Ken

I wouldn't chance it, it will most likely get worse. Call for service, maybe if they cant fix it, they'll swap it out for you and you wont have to pay the difference. If you just got it, it will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty anyways, I wouldn't bother mentioning it was open box.

By the way, what type of connection are you using for DVD and Cable?

I am using component for both cable (Mot 6412) and Pioneer DVD-525. Since you're from Boston...I got it from Tweeter with their extended warranty.

I was curious about your connection type because I have the LCD version and the picture was doing something similar, but that was just for cable STB with a DVI to HDMI adapter. Call for service, I know it's aggravation you probably don't want to deal with, but it will probably get worse. Panasonic customer service is pretty good but you should probably contact Tweeter first and see if they can send out a tech. If not Panasonic will give you the contact for the closest authorized repair tech. Good luck, let us know your results.
